Airfix 1/32 Triumph Herald
Hello again!
I really couldn't decide what to make for this group build so I've picked two cars the second of which is this Triumph Herald.
As you can see the colour option is red and white. I'm doing a Ford escort in red so I'd like this to be completly different. Haven't decided on a colour scheme yet. Suggestions welcome.

Hmmmm, looking at both your entries, Airfix seemed to have had a preference for red cars to go with the red boxes ....

This is one of those kits I wouldn't mind building but never seem to get round to buying. For a colour suggestion I used to see one around Methley where I lived for a while that was black and white and hat looked rather smart.

Very cool! I think the purple and white would look terrific!

I would check that whether the white is "white" or an "off white", which might might help it not look so stark.

Triumph white was ever so slightly bluish-grey. The other BMC's used more of a cream tint, like MG Old English white.

Snowberry white was another BMC colour as you say more of a slight cream tint.flakmonkey wrote:Triumph white was ever so slightly bluish-grey. The other BMC's used more of a cream tint, like MG Old English white.

Ah, a Herald, a mate had one, a lot of fun times with the roof off. Jeez what a lock, could turn on a dime. His was red and white but it wasn't white on top like that, I'm sure it had white stripes on the sides.
Fun stuff.
Cheers

That's brilliant. unfortunately I'm no nearer to deciding on the colour scheme! A poll may have to fix this.Migrant wrote:Maybe this will help?

Its got the makings of a nice kit with plenty of detail for it's age.
I don’t envy you trying to pick a colour, as it’s one of those cars that looked good in most colours, I have the easy choice as mine is in primrose yellow and having seen the Top Gear Herald close up, I don’t have to worry about doing a good paint job.

Re: Airfix 1/32 Triumph Herald
Looking at this and wondering if anybody does the twin headlamp Vitesse. Probably not. If I may offer a factoid here, it is often believed that the Herald and Spitfire share an identical chassis. They don't. Please don't ask me how I know this.

Re: Airfix 1/32 Triumph Herald
You could convert the Herald to a Vitesse using the engine out of the Airfix TR4A kit (2lt straight six) but you would need to scratch build a new headlight cluster and modify the bonnet, not impossible just a bit of a challenge.
