British Aerospace Nimrod B.Mk.4

From Apollo and Soyuz, to Gerry Anderson, Irwin Allen, Star Wars and Trek to Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica and those strange, doe-eyed Japanese school girls...to any model kits you can think of, that only exists in imagination.

British Aerospace Nimrod B.Mk.4

Post by Falcon »

This is not a recent build, but one from back in 2008.

Following the Falklands and a rather frosty period in the Cold War, the decision was taken to replace the Avro Vulcan in the long range nuclear strike role.

The British government opted for a new variant of the trusty Nimrod that could be armed with stand off weapons.

As the RAF had no real stand off weapons of its own at the time, they turned to the US and were able to procure a number of AGM-69 SRAM's and AGM-86 ALCM's.

That's an inventive and well executed model. The brilliant thing is it could have happened. I really enjoyed viewing your Nimrod. Thank you for sharing it.

Nice WIF. However it would have been very directionally unstable without the 'banana atop' the fin!

Hi. just joined and came across this. where did you get the decals from? or was it painted? got a 1/72 nimrod and would love to turn it into like the yours above. so it goes with my camo Victor + Valiant. or get another and do from scratch. or is for sale? thanks.

Great build. And welcome aboard. Not 100%sure but I think Chris used a mix of kit decals and some from the spares box.

All the best
