Very impressive Andrew, I enjoyed going through this thread.

I gave the snail a little push this afternoon
The nose is now insignia blue.
A few little tidy up spots need sorting.
Some hangy-offy things for under the wings.
No, not the Hawker Demon

Coming along nicely.
I saw in the latest Airfix Model World (July issue just hit the shelves here) that they confirmed Nicolson had a red devil painted on his plane. Says they passed the data on to the RAF Coningsby's media officer so it might get added to the jet.
So, you going to beat them to the punch?

The Red Devil motif was added to the RAF Typhoon about 6 weeks ago, along with Nicholson's name. If AMW are claiming that they are stealing another researcher's thunder.
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

I'm probably not going to do Nicholson's aircraft. The paint scheme is pre-BoB

Not sure if anyone is trying to steal anything and who knows when this issue went to print. Jst the Welcome page with a note from the guy who built the Hurricane in the previous issue based on contact he had with Nicolson's nephew.fredk wrote:The Red Devil motif was added to the RAF Typhoon about 6 weeks ago, along with Nicholson's name. Anyone have a pic of the real bird with the insignia on? None on the interweb thingy seem to show it.

No they're telling the truth - honest m'lud - Steve Budd (who built all the builds in the BofB special) was the one who sorted it out - I know him through another forum and he was talking about it a few weeks before AMW went to print. - He's a top bloke actually.philp wrote:Not sure if anyone is trying to steal anything and who knows when this issue went to print. Re: Airfix Eurofighter Typhoon 1/72
A few decals today, to make it look as if it's almost finished.
The roundels and "111" logos come from the new Airfix Hurricane Mk 1 kit.
I've started at the bottom of the extensive stencil sheet for the Eurofighter, and have the wing "No Walk" zones delineated.
Only another 80-odd stencils to go
I will probably skip some of the tiny ones, with a dark background, they are hardly visible anyhow.
Cheers
Andrew

Will it have one of those little yellow square mustard gas detector panels on the wing that the early pre-war a/c had?
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.
