As a change from my usual builds, I decided to break out on of the Bandai kits I have been adding to the stash as and when I see them at a reasonable price. The detail and quality of these kits is stunning; they are designed as 'snap-together' kits, and frankly you really don't need any glue although I have been using some Tamiya extra thin cement as I go. So far both wings are assembled, and I've started a bit of paintwork on the engines; not particularly prototypical but it'll be something like the box art in the end!

This is the finished product; paint is all Tamiya, chrome on engine type bits, white elsewhere. Weathered with Flory washes and Tamiya Smoke.The kit decals are great, but need a lot of lubrication in place before landing them or they grab whatever they touch first and are reluctant to be moved again!. The scheme is not totally prototypical, but there seems to be enough variance in the screen versions to suggest an amount of individuality was allowed......anyway, that's my view
Really enjoyed building this, and just right for a Christmas/New Year morale booster

To the best of my knowledge, there is no mainstream supplier in the UK yet for the Bandai Star Wars kits. They can be bought via eBay but be careful as some sellers are advertising UK stock when they are based outside the UK and a lot are selling the new 'palm-sized' Bandai range but using photos of the 1/72 boxes.
They also come up for sale on Amazon and I use the 'Camelcamelcamel' add-on to set a price I'm happy to pay and then when/if the price drops they email me to let me know. Generally the 1/72 X-Wing kits I've bought have been around £18-20 including postage from Japan
