Phantom Eggplane

I've been pretty much living at the bench for months, with nothing to show for it in the completions department. I finally managed to complete a project today though. It's been a bench queen since I ran into trouble with it in 2013, but it's finally here.

Almost as aerodynamic as a real F4. Nice one. I like the 'Spook' figure too.

All the best.

"The victory of thrust over aerodynamics" was one description of the real thing, if I recall correctly :-D
I like the 'Spook' figure too.
Unlike most other eggplanes, which were stripped of all their comic figures sometime after the initial release, this is one of the few that retained it (sans bomb cart and gatling gun). Easy enough to get one, should you want to.

It is a somewhat edited Spook though, for one thing, the 'real' Spook has no face, only windings/shadows and eyes, and certainly no ears sticking out. I bought a number of these kits, just to steal and convert the Spooks into (according to current plans) a 'standard' Spook, a German one, and a Brit. The rest of the international spooks seem to lack something, but you never know..

That's really good; I've seen a few kits around of egg-planes but not seen one completed!

I suspect the stash might be expanding soon  :-D

One of the regular visitors to the local IPMS group's New Year's meeting is a regular eggplane specialist. I don't think my wall-of-text attacks will be very useful to non-Dutch speakers, but the pictures at the bottom should speak for themselves (all of them clickable for larger images)

Not nearly at our specialist's level, but a few others by me:

There's even after market detail sets for some of them  .

Looks good Rob, these eggplanes are always a good bit of fun as an antidote to more "serious" modelling. I used a translate function on your wall of Dutch and got the gist of it although some of the words were obviously too much for Google Translate to cope with! One day though that technology will mean we can all communicate without the tiresome need to learn foreign languages! (your English is first class by the way).

I've never felt any compulsion to build an egg-plane but looking at your F-4 Rob, and the images you linked to, I must admit they hold a strange fascination. Just what I need though, another modelling genre to fuel my stash habit.

Always happy to help a fellow modeler's stash grow a bit further out of control
