Star Wars Diorama, AT-AT, Imperial Walkers.......FINI.....

Good progress but I wish I was retired so I had more time for building !!!
I had only one example of the Snowspeeder so I cleaned up the original and used it to make more...

Image

The walkers were painted with a combination of greys sprayed wet into wet...

Image

Image

When these had dried up a few days I gloss coated them wth Future then an oil wash to pick out detail...

Image

I got one to the point I liked it then did the others bad boys to match...

Image

Image

Image

I then started on the base. This I sculpted with light spackle on primed ply-wood...

Image

Primed and painted with some plastic "snow" glued on for some texture. This will get airbrushed with very light blue to enhance shadows and add depth (I hope).
This is where we stand about now...

Image

Image

One of those turrets in the foreground will be knocked-out. Home stretch now !!!
Thanks,
Allan Buttrick

This is indeed a really amazing looking diorama. How are you going to place the Snowspeeders? Wire? Stands?

That is certainly looking the beans, Allan. The AT-ATs have come out looking wonderful. I love the detail like the footprints - especially the ones moving away from the crashed Snowspeeder. How far are you from retirement? I want to see this finished!!!!

Really great !!! The AT-AT's, in the varied poses look very realistic and life-like (OK, I know it's a sci-fi machine, but you know what I mean).

Lots of work but lots of fun...

I airbrushed shadows with light blue, the Snowspeeders are on a wire post. The grappling cable is florist wire.

I noticed the lighted cockpit of the walkers in one of the screen grabs. This I did on the models with "Bare-Metal-Foil" and Tamiya clear red.

Absolutely stunning Allan. You obviously put a lot of work in but you've certainly got a result that justifies it. 8-)
