FockeSchmitt P.1101010101010 'Schlange' (Snake).

Post by Ian »

In late 1944, Hitler demanded that the Luftwaffe stopped losing so many pilots. The only way Goering could think how to do this was to get the pilots out of the aircraft. So he got Professor Heinz Schnitzel to work with both Messerschmidt and Focke Wulf on a brand new design that could be flown from the ground - the worlds first unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV).
After the war, the Americans got hold of the plans but could not work out how the electronics worked, so they put a canopy on it, added a pilot and called it the Sabre!

Excellent!
And a nice background story that was very convincing too.

Could this be the start of an idea for a GB?

Looks great in that colour scheme.

I assume it was Professor Werner Schnitzel :ha:

Very nice,

Your number 2 on it is very appropriate
1101010101010 is binary for 6826, added together these digits gives 22, = a 2 on each side of the fuselage. QED

That's a good one Ian, the Sabre makes a great looking UCAV.

I spotted the 22 immediately in the title.

But still, good storyline and good model to go with it. I just wish people would let drones do more work today, as we are saving pilot's lives using them.

Of course, the Germans had experience with manned and unmanned versions of aircraft -- just look at the V-1 and the Fi 103. So the Yanks probably didn't have much to do to turn the Snake into the Sabre as the Germans had already designed it to allow easy addition of a cockpit if it was ever required. :-D
