finished build of Altair Lunar Lander,at 1/72?ish/ scratch .
hi,hello, Boo.
finally finished this scratch build,i was going to wait until id finished the base, before posting, but here it is,the base just needs some more shading/paint.S o what is it,well part of the build is in the workbench section,i,ll compose a bit of history of this planned project,later...so heres a reminder, this is what i started with,,
and using these images, theres not a lot available..
so heres the finished? beast...
the main tanks for the descent
the ingress for the habitat/ascent module
the fork lift truck ,built from previous auto landers bits..
the view from low moon orbit..
view of the docking ring for the link up with the orion capsule in orbit.
so heres some pics of whats left behind, when the ascent module leaves, this is used for the base of the larger habitat modules, which are delivered by auto landers..
view down the blast chute, for the ascent engine.
the main descent engines,4-1 throttling..
the fork truck to access the higher levels.
the other bits made,a remote control panel, etc
the ascent module,as it leaves?
make appropiate engine noise,as it lifts off?
if you look carefully you can see the flag moving, you know what that means? lol
a view of the lander, and the auto lander, and rover, off the same program
and finally, when the lander is left, the habitat is delivered by the auto transport, and placed on the legs, which will be big, once the solar array is deployed,it will be huge..
so heres the future build,
so thats it, thanks for looking, and comments etc welcomed,,ive just got to say a quick thanks to martin, from martin,s models for doing me a sheet of decals,at very short notice,so thanks...
thanks again for looking.

Wow Don, what a brilliant model. obviously a lot of work and a heck of a lot to take in but it's a real stunner.

That is an impressive amount of work and very well done.
It's hard to take it all in via small pictures - I wish I could see it in person.

Is that going to end up in a museum or a public exhibition? It deserves to.
The Antares looks a bit of a messy design. I'm glad it never got built for real if was going to look like that.

Yes, I like the build a lot, very impressive and doesn't look very scratch built to me. Good stuff.jetboy wrote:love the comments chaps,i see there are some closet conspiritors about?glad you liked the build,or not?as the case may be,,,if there is anything spacy/rockety you want to see built just ask,ive got a few build threads, not very good mind you,but i like them, and you get too see what to buy or not?just let me know?
