What I did with my morning...

From Apollo and Soyuz, to Gerry Anderson, Irwin Allen, Star Wars and Trek to Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica and those strange, doe-eyed Japanese school girls...to any model kits you can think of, that only exists in imagination.

What I did with my morning...

Post by airjim »

...actually built a kit. More of a plaything for the girlfriend's daughter, but none the less it doesn't look bad. It is the Zvezda "El Chupacabra" GeeBee from the movie Planes kit built out of the box but for leaving off most of the stickers which are really poor and "painting" the the wheels black with a Sharpie marker. I might have to get a second one someday to do "serious" build.

Mother of modelling, planes was horrible.

I'm actually surprised they made model kits though, it might be good for young people to get modelling, but I don't see much point in doing anything for the movie.

That's a good way to spend a morning!

It was my birthday, so I opened a few presents and built up the SRAM biplane jig.

Then I had to go and get a new licence plate sticker for the van.

Both are now finished and waiting for a little girl to get home from school. Left off the gear and other "pokey" parts from Dusty.

I picked up 3 of them from a buddy for a good price. He says he knows someone who does decals for the set so I am looking to get the others and 2 of the F-18s so I can do Bravo and Echo.

If I can get the decals then will try to do decent builds but I like the way they come molded in colors like Matchbox should have done :-)

Not my scale but I liked the movie and am looking forward to the new one (with a Skycrane and C-119).
