Splash's Dutch Apache Display a/c ***Finished***
Re: Splash's Dutch Apache Display a/c
Bring on the decals and I'm glad you enjoyed it. The Apache is one of Revells new generation 1/144's and so, so much more advanced than their predecessors.
Whilst their very latest, the F-15E and F/A-18E are also gorgeous kits, they still haven't managed to match the new Platz and Sweet kits.
Regards,
Bruce

Excellent!
That sums up my feelings exactly: it won't replace 72 or 48 as my main focus but 144 is a great change of pace and there are a lot more subjects out there than there used to be. I've yet to try a Sweet or a Platz kit but I'm definitely going to.I'm not yet fully converted to 1/144 but this will defiantly not be my last.

Re: Splash's Dutch Apache Display a/c
Slight glitch that I should have checked out before I started.
The decals that come with the kit are Dutch low vis markings Dhoooooooo I need the bright red white blue & orange makings.
It looks like the only option is hairy stick, I might try cutting a hole with a punch in some masking film to get the round shape and just paint in the colours.
Note to myself do the research before you start the build not at the end

I've just been trawling through my 1/144 decal bank, hoping to find something Belgian.
I did find a variety of Czech roundels that would be easier to modify to Dutch, rather than trying to paint them from scratch. I'm sure you could trim a cocktail stick to the right diameter, to 'stamp' the central orange dot.
If you tell me the diameter you need, they'll be in the post, First Class, Monday morning.

Thanks for your kind offer, I have gone for the scratch paint option, it's not the neatest finish but it does put this kit to bed. The problem now is, I have enjoyed this build so much I want to have another go at 1/144 plus build the Dutch Apache in 1/72.
