FROG Spitfire IX, painted as MH434 when she was Adrian Swire's personal Spit.
The orientation of the starboard codes is correct - I had to double check before I started putting the letters on!

Airfix Spitfire IX (old tool) - ML407/OU-V of 485 (New Zealand) Squadron, as depicted on the 6th of June 1944.

Airfix/Otaki Spitfire VIII built as Mk.IX BS538/NL-B, as flown by Sgt. Pierre Clostermann, 341 (Alsace) Squadron.
Finished model is pictured with another Otaki Spitfire, also built as a Mk.IX, this time as survivor MJ772 (built as a single-seater back in 1943, rebuilt by Vickers as a Tr.9 post-war and now flying in Germany).
The model itself had a replacement gull-wing section already fitted, but it was lacking one undercarriage leg and its exhausts. I swapped the undercarriage legs from the Mk.Vb kit and found some spare exhaust stubs in the Hobbycraft Hispano Buchon kit. They might not be entirely accurate, but they look the part!
