General Aircraft Limited Twin Hotspur made from two 1:72 Novo (F152)s
The General Aircraft Twin Hotspur, tested by ‘A’ Flight, Airborne Forces Experimental Establishment, Chelveston, August 1942, was an experimental glider consisting of two standard fuselages and outer wings sections joined by a new " centre section" and a common tailplane. This had the serial number MP486 and was towed by an Armstrong-Whitworth Whitley tug.

1:72 Airfix (02063) Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-4/U8 W Nr 7155 landed in error at West Malling on 17th April 1943. It was given the RAF serial number PE882. After making 96 flights at RAE Farnborough, PE882 was transferred to No 1426 (Enemy Aircraft) Flight, the ‘Circus’ that demonstrated Luftwaffe aircraft at British and USAAF bases. PE882 crashed near the Flight’s base at Collyweston on 13th October 1944.

1:72 Heller BAe Harrier T.Mk.4 (80365) XW927 233 Operational Conversion Unit, RAF Wittering 7 November 1976, the aircraft had been given a rather crude overall respray and an 8” code, instead of the normal 10”, was applied to both sides of the fin.

Airfix 1/72 Harrier GR.3 XV760, No. 1 Squadron, No. 233 OCU, recorded 23rd April 1976 just prior to its Test Flight following fitment of nose LRMTS and tail PWR as part of its ‘Phase 4’ upgrade, the first “in service” GR.3 to be so modified. The aircraft was recoded “Blue 42” that evening, re-entering service as such 24th April.

1:72 Heller BAe Harrier T.Mk.4 (80365) XW268 233 Operational Conversion Unit, RAF Wittering 15 July 1977. This was the first T-Bird to receive the wrap-around camouflage scheme, occurring on 18-07-75. Originally coded ‘Blue 54’, on 27-04-77 was redesignated ‘Blue Uncle’.

1:72 Airfix North American P-51D Mustang 55th FS 20th FG, Richard Iehie’s 44-15078 KI-B Ginny/Green Eyes 10-04-45 and North American P-51D Mustang KI-K Little Lady, which arrived at King's Cliffe in early October of 1944, but was lost on 10 December 1944.

Airfix 02068 1/72 Lightning F-1A XM186/B of 111 Squadron, Wattisham. When taking off from Wittering on 18 July 1963, to give a display for students from the Imperial Defence College, went out of control and crashed. Flying Officer Alan Garside, the pilot, was killed in the accident
