Jim,
That's an absolutely fantastic finish! Well impressed and a little jealous. I really must get an airbrush for Lufty camouflage.
regards,
Martin

Re: Jim's Easy Me
Thanks Martin and OT, I noticed Paul Bradley uses post-it notes, so shamelessly stole the idea, and they work well, though sometimes I wished I had three hands, especially at the tailplane fin junction. I used a hair-drier to make sure the previous colour was dry before starting the next, and all went smooth.
I do enjoy airbrushing, I find the control of being able to slowly build effects up is so much easier. To me its the most enjoyable part of a build, especially when there is minimal masking, this one was fun.
Decals this morning, went on well, apart form the yellow fuselage band which was really brttle and cracked up at the edges, so grabbed one form a Revell Me262 sheet. Lots of stencils, I've never applied so many, I usually give up...
I wonder why the Hobby Boss swastika is backwards? I had seen builds on other sites mentioning they were backwards, but I couldn't find any correct ones in my spares, ah well. Though it does look like well odd....
The decals seem very brilliant too, so maybe a light spray of a grey to tone them down? I'll see if a get a chance tonight.
Cheers
Jim

Re: Jim's Easy Me
So brought out the airbrush again, and sprayed some thinned Tamiya deck tan over the decals and the high parts of the plane, then sprayed a well thinned mix of Tamiya black and brown in places. Finally a coat of Vallejo Model Air satin varnish... er?
What's that whistling noise?
arrrrrggghhhhhh !!
Takkka takka takkka
Whoooooshhh..
What a fun kit, a blast to build and a ball to paint, really put back the joy of building a model, I feel like a kid building a Matchbox Spitfire on a Friday evening ready for the battles at bedtime..
In fact I think I'll be off to make more takka whoooshing sound effects before beddie byes...
Cheers

I love the scheme on this one. This way the splitter fades out on the fuselage has been beautifully done.

That's so it's still legal to sell the kit in Germany, Jim.Jagewa wrote: I wonder why the Hobby Boss swastika is backwards? I had seen builds on other sites mentioning they were backwards, but I couldn't find any correct ones in my spares, ah well. Though it does look like well odd....

The Swastika is illegal, but the reversed ones are okay. You can flip the decal over while decalling, and then it will be the genuine Nazi symbol.
That's a very nice paint finish.
Cheers

Re: Jim's Easy Me
They are in two halves to each Swastika on the decal sheet. Though, I did wonder if that was the reason, funny thing is Connor said to me "So you'll have to put the halves on upside down", and then 'know it all me' said, "I think the back side of them will be all white".... I never had a peek to check Boolarks... Oh well I might have to buy another as er. research.. yes dear that's it research!AndrewR wrote:That's so it's still legal to sell the kit in Germany, Jim.
