Publication: Cold War Warriors -a Flypast magazine special

Post by beany »

I meant to share this before Xmas but didn't get around to it I'm afraid. I picked up my copy in Sainsburys, but it is available from the publishers:

I've not read much of it yet, but what I have was very interesting and informative - a potted guide to the Cold War if you like. I know I should know all this as I've been a member of this SIG for ages, but I'm no expert so this magazine is a good find for me, especially as it has 100+ pages for only £5.99

There are articles (and loads of pictures) on:
Clash of the Titans - setting the scene for the Cold War - includes nice pics of the Cold War Hall at Cosford museum

Arabian Lightnings (Royal Saudi Airforce use of the F.53)

Triple Zilch (North American F.100 Super Sabre)

Honing The Elite - RAF's Central Fighter Establishment

MiG 25 Foxbat

The Cuban Crisis (spying and recon aircraft types)

Korean Cat - Grumman F-9F Panther

Without Equal - the SR-71

The Fouth V-Bomber - the Short Sperrin

plus others: EB-66 SkyKnight, F-2H Banshee, F-5 Freedom Fighters, Tigers Fear No Man - 74 Squadron

and other stuff.

Extremely good value for money IMHO - get yourself a copy now.

Cheers
Al.

Just spotted something interesting; can anyone see the difference between my copy (below) and the publishers picture I shared above (shouldn't be too difficult, it has been discuss ad nauseum elsewhere!!)?

The same mistake Airfix made on their box art :-D
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.
