Alan, I think the Duquesne would be an interesting build. I remember visiting the Suffren in Pompey, back in the day.

I've never do a group build so a quick question do we do a WIP and post the pictures here or complete the build and then just post the final pics here?
Welcome Aboard !

Bruce pretty well covered the concept of a GB -- just think that we're a crowd sitting around a table with our models, showing our kits, asking questions, chit-chatting -- except we're doing it online. The more you participate, the more you and everyone else get from it.

I assume you know the Revell Campbeltown kit really isn't Campbeltown in either guise, when first lend-leased for convoy duty or after modified for Operation Chariot, but more like the original USS Buchanan. Here's a short review of the kit that might be helpful.

I have the Anatomy of the Ship book and can try to answer any questions on it, if you want to go for a conversion. I don't have the Revell kit, but instead have chosen to go with the Mirage Hobby range of 1/400 scale ships so I can build numerous versions.

hi jratz, i have read up on the campbletown and might cut down the rear stack to emulate the operation but ill be concentrating on a well used ship with plenty of weathering and little bits of this and that to make it respectable, the revell kit looks ok but not the best detail in the world so with you in the wings to keep me right it might come out ok, that is if my mojo does sink at the dockside.

Martin,
Check the prior builds thread, I posted a couple shots of my 1/400 Campbeltown. You actually need to cut off the 4th stack and shorten the 3rd, plus change over all the guns, add a new gunnery platform, etc, etc .... I'll be glad to provide any info you might need and cheer you on !!!

Sorry I won't be joining in after all. I'm going to be short of spare time for a couple of months.

Have a fun group build, shake a leg

Hi guys, new around here with a Tamiya HMS Hood and E Class Destroyer kit. Am I ok to pull up a chair and join in with that? If so, do I just start a new thread for it?

Hum, still not sure what to build for this. Of course I have my Olympic but even though its not far along its still started. I'm also not sure I could complete it in time. Way to much PE rails and steps to add. Also there are resin parts I need to cast and I haven't a clue how to do that yet sooo... Next could be a Revell Queen Mary. I want to turn that into the Gray Ghost but I have the same issues as I have with the Olympic. Hum... I have two Airfix Mauratania's. One is going to be the HMT Battle Dress version so that is also out for this build but I could use one and build a straight forward Mauritania.

I will need to think about it some more. In the mean time I need to finish off the Boss 302 for the Wheels GB.

It's a two-month build, but if you keep thinking, the days will start rolling by ... best just grab one and go for it -- they all sound interesting.
