as most of the painting has been done, the next part is to put the major superstructures together on the deck. fit is generally good and, although there is some touching up needed to a few little bits of paint, i'm happy.

the bridge windows are not supplied so these are actually just black transfers. they are a little too large, the real ship has a few more windows but its the effect i am looking for (just noticed the centre one is broken, will need to fix that)

Image

pennant number decals added to the hull and bridge roof and p/e railings added around the guns

and a good bit of the p/e railings added, and the areas which are missing them yet.

Looking very good and very speedy work !
I assume you paint your PE railings before attaching, then just touch up ?

sorry for the absence guys; its been a very busy period.

However, i did manage to finish and am fairly happy with the outcome.

the arials are all from the kit and are a little overscale, but looking at pictures of the actual ship, some of them are not that much overscale; there is some hefty engineering on the real ship. The radardome is the weakest point of the kit; there is some very fine panel lines on it but the fit of the 2 halves is not too good so some of the lines are lost. they could be replaced with streched sprue but it would be a real pfaff. the anchor chain is provided with the kit. i know it should be black but this is a "museum" style model with noe weathering and full hull so i can get away with leaving it brass.

a very nice kit and one i would recommend.

Congratulations ! First across the finish line !!

Very well done, in particular the nicely done railings ! I have to agree with Brews, I see that dome and think of a 19th century ship-mounted ballon ...
