Welcome to the Meet the Meet the Fokkers Group build.
It is 100 years since Anthony Fokker started his aircraft company then known as Fokker Aeroplanbau at Johannisthal near Berlin. We are doing this build to commemorate this centenary. All Fokker designed and built aircraft aircraft are welcome from the first types like the 'Spin' (Spider) to the jets and airliners.
Go on, build yourself a crafty little Fokker
ps. If any of you havn't seen the film 'Meet the Fockers' it is highly recomended.

All the best.

Then no doubt Tony went on to learn about drag coefficients

Anyway, as I finished my DR1's, I got to wondering if WWI aircraft have paint schemes only reproducable by the old Hairy Stick?
I know brush-painted mottle and exhaust stains are rarely as good as those applied by airbrush, but at least attempts can be made, by those without such a tool.
Having worked over my streaky paint and being quite pleased with the result, I was wondering if such an effect could be replicated by an airbrush, or is such painting the province of the Hairy Stick only?
Regards,
Bruce

Given the hive of frenzied activity and enthusiasm for the subject that this GB is, I'm wondering if anyone else, besides myself, feels inspired to continue along a WWI aviation path?

Yes, I'll be doing several over the next few months. I picked up the Revell Sopwith Triplane yesterday. The LHS has just restocked their Revell WW1 rangeMerlinJones wrote:Given the hive of frenzied activity and enthusiasm for the subject that this GB is, I'm wondering if anyone else, besides myself, feels inspired to continue along a WWI aviation path?

The Triplane is another nice little kit, provided you ignore the rigging instructions.

Not a lot in the stash but, IIRC without pulling boxes out, I do have an Airfix Avro 504K which I bought in about 1978 or so and a 1/48th Pfalz DIII by Blue Max, which is very nice. I should build that really to cheese off the collectors

The 504 is a gem of a kit and well worth the effort in rigging it.

In the past I've used stretched sprue in my rigging attempts in 1/72nd and fine wire in 1/48th. If I tried it now on something like the 504, where rigging abounds unlike the D7, I would probably try some of that Aeroclub elastic type thread.

Last day, chaps. Any chance of having more than 6 in the completed builds gallery? I know there's at least one monoplane a-ready.

I'll do a photo shoot when I get some decent natural light and I recharge the camera batteriesMerlinJones wrote:Last day, chaps. Any chance of having more than 6 in the completed builds gallery? I know there's at least one monoplane a-ready.

I'd just like to say how much I've enjoyed this GB even though, rather pathetically, all I've managed is a DNF. Well done to the finishers.

I've found that half the fun of a GB is chatting and banter with the other participants and watching their builds. Finishing your own build is a bonus of course and I came very close this time, just a bit of unfortunate timing with my clash of hobbies. My 100% DNF record so far, won't put me off attempting more
