Not to be picky, but I thought there was also a wire running down from the 'tower' to the inner front hole on the wing, same place that the wire from the cowling ran to (so you have two wires going into the one hole, but apparently only the one wire coming out underneath) ?
Thanks John

You are quite right, and those wires appear to be missing from the Revell Rigging Diagram in the box.

Looking at the Eduard Profipack Rigging Diagram it seems that I've missed 4 wires - the two you describe and the two which come down from the tower to the cowling rigging points. I'm also not sure if they go to the cowling rigging points already on, or onto nearby points. I'll have to check that out. The Profipack also has some rigging at the tail, which I don't have. I thought there was something missing... :)

I suppose I have to think if I want to make it up OOB with the Revell instructions, or enhance it. I'm not sure what to do - I haven't bothered with any extra cockpit detail, which I would have done if I was souping up the detail.

cheers

Andrew

Edit: Very close inspection of the Revel Rigging guide shows the wires are there - just very difficult to make out!

Big Five-Oh Andrew? happy birthday and welcome to the club. The model is looking pretty good now it's getting some rigging on board. There's only so many wires can be portrayed in 1/72nd, just go for the feel of it. Half the correct number looks better than none!

I remember floppy disks when they were still floppy (and 8 inch diameter). I've never had to boot a computer with paper tape, but It was a close run thing! :)

A few lines on the horizontal tail sections will be a nice touch, I think. At least it's not double rigging wires. :)

DEC RX01 8 inch floppies - 256k capacity. 8-)
The PDP-11-03 computer I was running them on had a (wait for it) 28k core memory.

Okay, thanks to "Eagle-eyed' JRatz, I have now fixed the missing rigging. But it needs final trimming still.

Today's activity was a bit limited because I was completely Fokkered by having stayed up from 2.45 am with David (his new improved meds causing insomnia ). I was also getting ready for my next lecture course (starts Tuesday).

Anyway, having propped the eyelids up with bits of sprue, I painted the wheels and got them on the plane, put the tailskid on, and stuck the prop on temporarily with blu-tack.

Image

This time, the plane looks much more complete. Having the rudder and prop on makes a big difference. :)

Image

There are still quite a long list of little tasks to do; a coat or two of Pledge and some more decals to go on. A hole to be filled where the tail skid did not fit in the holes provided. The worst thing about these Revell kits is the lack of definition where the kit piece starts and the sprue gate ends.

Image

I'm not sure whether or not to work on the tail a bit more. I'll sleep on that decision.

Well done in the face of extreme tiredness (could be spelt wrong, it's a long time since I was at skool), hope the young 'un is feeling a bit better now. Control horns present a challenge in this scale and one which I'm going to face with my D7, thanks to being over ambitious with the drill bit and pin vice. I'm going to try bits of thin plastic card and/or scrap brass from previously used PE sets, that I always keep for situations just like this. There is a danger of getting excess glue onto the freshly painted surfaces whilst attempting to attach said control horns to think about as well. Remind me to build strictly OOB next time

The liitle lad has now been sleeping solidly for 14 hours! :) Boy, he must have been so tired yesterday.

I found the Eduard 1/48 Profipack instructions which show the placement of the control horns, and I do have some photoetch ones from my Airwaves set. I have to see if I can get at the rudder to drill holes though.

Cheers

Nice one Andrew, the rigging has really brought it to life and I like the cowling finish too, it looks very convincing from here.
