Its like there is extra carrier film on top of the decal, thanks to a heads up i have been trimming them as close as possible, but still there is like a sticky gunk on the surface. This means swilling the decal in water before applying.Still once on they settle down very well. She sure does look better now the decals are going on.

She's avin it large Shaun, another decal update all the main upper surface decals are on  only disaster has been the serial codes for the fuselage sides these broke up into a thousand bits  I have sent an e-mail to hornby complaining so we will see what happens.Starting on the underside decals now,it wont be finished today but by Saturday evening it should all be over

Excellent. IMHO, as long as all goes well, the decal stage is when a model really comes to life. Hopefully Hornby will send you some replacement codes. I don't know why it is that decals can sometimes break up like that but when it happens they are usually beyond hope. I find it especially disappointing when the decals in question are supposedly modern examples of the art.

These were the last of the old Airfix i think, when you look at the sheet in a certain light you can see a shiny layer round and over the decal, the codes do not have this cover.I agree that this is the stage that it starts to come to life.

Yes, I agree, this is a great finishing effort and, at the risk of repeating myself, it looks very good!

Lovely looking build, should leave a big space on the bench.
