Masterbox 1/72 Mk.1 Female Tank
Masterbox 1/72 Mk.1 Female Tank
Made a start on it pretty much straight away. After some assembly issues, everything fell in to place quite nicely and I did not have the issues with the "rubber band" tracks that were reported on various websites and forums.
Plastic is fairly brittle in nature so I resorted to using a razor saw for a lot of sprue removals to ensure I did not break some of the more delicate parts.
I was also going to stretch some sprue tubing and replace the machinegun barrels as they are pretty basic, but carefully drilled out the barrel ends instead.
After being totally confused with the colour scheme(probably of my own making, but aided by the pretty but completely useless painting instructions) I have sourced colours I am comfortable with after reading a fantastic build blog by Federico Colladia.
I brush painted all the colours over an airbrushed Modelmaster Acryl base. Four thin coats gave a good result. It took four nights to do all of it properly.
Once the colour blocking was done, I lightened each colour with white and worked that colour in with a very dry brush to create some fading and to pull out the fine details.
So here are some in-progress pics of my Mk.1 build snapped on my iPhone. Apologies on the image quality.
Still plenty to do!

That is excellent. Great job with the painting. I'll have to check out the source you used when I come to do my mine.

Is the chicken coop and mesh included in the kit?

Yes although it was generally discarded in battle.Ratch wrote:Is the chicken coop and mesh included in the kit?

I did the Mk.I Male (Gaza) and thought it went together quite well. Some sprue gates are a bit thick and attached on the mating surface so careful cleanup is needed.
There is no such thing as correct WW1 colors, and patterns were only suggestions, so don't worry about it.

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.

Just started work on the base. Not done a Winter/muddy type base before so a first.
Re: Masterbox 1/72 Mk.1 Female Tank
Second phase of weathering completed.
Dry mud has been applied using MIG pigments. Next stage will be "wet" mud on the tracks and on adjacent portions of the hull.

Excellent. The weathering is very subtle. I use Mig for tanks so will look at their mud options.

That looks excellent Mike and it's good to see the Female version being built for a change.

Mk.1 on base now. Just a bit more blending and final touches to do before I add the "chicken coop".
Pics are from my iPhone. Sorry about quality.

Pics look good enough to me Mike - that is a seriously good looking build and nicely posed.
