1/76 Airfix type 97 Chi Ha medium tank

A nice little kit with few flaws. I used the Mig Ammo IJA paint set but may have got a bit carried away with the weathering.

nice job toby are they the kit tracks and how did you finnish them, general weathering looks great too any tips as i've got one nearly done except the tracks which look naff and some weathering to do

Yes they are the kit's tracks and I used CA glue in gentle stages to fix them. The joins are at the bottom. I had painted the tracks dark grey beforehand then I used a Mig track wash and just added a Vallejo umber wash on top of that. For the main body I used Vallejo sepia and umber wash along with a plastic soldier company olive drab wash. Hope this helps.

That was one of the best kits available when it was first released and it is still not far off the best current day kits. The Fujimi Chi Ha series are pretty good too but the tracks aren't quite as good as the Airfix tracks.

Great little tank Toby. There's no such thing as too much weathering on an armour model. It looks like it's spent a fair bit of time in a sweaty jungle....

Nice one. IMHO this is one of Airfix's best small scale tanks. The weathering looks fine to me and you've done a good job with the tracks - as most of us know, they can be a bit of a mare on older tank kits and the join can prove challenging to hide when there are no handy side skirts!
