Trumpeter 1/72 KV-1

Post by jssel »

Here is my recently finished Trumpeter KV-1.

A wonderful kit to build with a load of detailing for the scale. The tracks are complete runs of vinyl. The instruction sheet says that "plastic" glue with connect the ends but I found that it did not work. Neither did Super Glue or two part epoxy glue, I settled with wiring the ends together with floral wire. The vinyl used in the tracks are thin, flexible with great detail.

The decal sheet had for pieces which represented, I believe, a political slogan. Fearing that they would not settle over the bolt heads on the turret, I "wussed" out in using them.

Nice one Jeff, as you say it looks to have lashings of detail for the scale
Best wishes

Nicely done. Your finish has really brought out the detail well.

That is a great looking KV Jeff with plenty of detail for the scale but those bolt heads on the turret (holding applique armour on the full-size?) certainly present a problem for decal application, as is my want I would have gone like a bull in a china shop with plenty of Microscale solutions but they don't always guarantee success and I have had to use weathering to disguise marks on the paint left by the solutions before now. I usually turn to two-part epoxy resin for tough-to-glue items like those tracks but it sounds like the material used here by Trumpeter laughed such off!

Very nice! I had the same variant by PST Models (it's on my flickr page) and the slogans did eventually settle on the turret. They were apparently very big on slogans.

quite a littel beauty Jeff! Small but detailed. As the slogan goes, let's just say the crew was not yet threatened by NKVD :)
