Italeri 1/35 Chevrolet 15CWT with Breda 20/65

Post by Titan »

This took a bit longer to make than the jeeps I have been doing of late, but then it is a lot bigger so I suppose it would...lol
I painted the interior and dirtied the windscreen before gluing the cab assembly together which was the most difficult part of the build so not that difficult then.
I kept changing my mind as to which version I was going to build several times in fact before deciding on this one which now that it is built I wish I went for the B version with the tilt....typical

For its age this kit is still very good, and the cab and wheels in particular are very well done. In fact it looks like the real thing whereas a similar kit by IBG has something about it that does look right.

The only thing about this kit that originated with Max or Peerless in 1970's is the choice of rear body; a steel rear tub would have been far more useful. And what a shame Italeri didn't develop the kit to have various radio bodies like they have with their Opel Blitz.

Anyway you have produced a fine example here and I like the scratches on the vehicle and would love to know your technic for doing them.

Great work, realistically weathered and worn, and well photographed also.

Another superb softskin build Mark, that is really nice. I much prefer the pairing of arty piece and tractor as a display model as opposed to the vehicles and guns being built and displayed separately.

Thanks gentlemen.

I tried for the first time using AK Interactive's Heavy chipping medium on this kit as opposed to using hairspray and I have to say I like it.
I loaded the airbrush up with it and liberally sprayed over the base coat of black, I let this dry for half an hour before spraying over with the top coat of dark sand and let that dry for half an hour.
Next wet the area to be weathered and then I got a sharpened cocktail stick and lightly scratched the top coat until I got the desired effect, works a treat.
Then it was just the question of blending it all in with some Heavily thinned Tamiya buff and that's it.

Mark
