Testors/Italeri British 6 pounder

Post by jssel »

Over in Small Talk I had mentioned that we lost a long time club member after being with us 38 years. My club, working with his widow, obtained his stash and modeling supplies. We held and auction so took away a little piece of Bill with us.

The club also decided in tomorrows contest we would have a specific award to honor Bill by entering a kit built from his collection. My choice was the 1/35 scale anti-tank gun. Marked on the box as the M-1, a mate who is knowledgeable about these things advised me it is actually a British 6 pounder. All pieces in the build came in the box except for the recoil chain in the front. The plastic base was redone following Splash's technique used in the T-34 build.

Hope you enjoy my tribute to Bill Conley, a good friend,

The US 57mm M-1 anti-tank gun was the same as the later marks of the British 6-pdr with the longer barrel.
There were minor differences on the gun and mount as well as the carriage, wheels, and tires.

Without detail study of the model, it does look like the earlier 6-pdr.

Notwithstanding any potential differences between the M-1 and the 6 pounder, that is a fine build Jeff, and I'm sure a worthy tribute to your friend.
Best wishes

I also lack any real knowledge regarding the M-1 and 6pdr but this is an excellent build, Jeff and a really great tribute to your old modelling friend.

Nice gesture, and a very nice little vignette.

Thanks for the info John. It aligns with our resident AFV member advised. Thought you would know ;-)

Well built Jeff. A fitting tribute to a fellow modeller.
