Airfix 1/76 Matador conversion to Halftrack

This was only a prototype according to everything I have found on the net. The idea apparently came about during the War when the thinking was that there was going to be a shortage of rubber for tyres, hence the reason for the tracked rear end. As it surpassed the shortage never materialised and the prototype was converted back to a normal Matador Gun Tractor. This conversion used a track set from Matador models. I used some licence as to how the tracks were attached as no instructions came with the kit except to say that the rear of the tracks should protrude about 2mm beyond the rear of the truck bed. I have marked it as though it went into service and gave it 11th Armoured division markings:

Plus a shot of the underside on how I thought the tracks may have been attached:

It also has Wee Friends metal wheels, some scratched lights and mirrors and has been glazed.

Good conversion. When details aren't available, use your BMJ (Best Modelling/Military Judgement), and you've mastered that skill !

A very tidy conversion indeed, that really does look the business and any guesswork you have had to employ looks totally plausible to me!
