Revell of Germany has released a very vice kit of the M-60A3 that was later released with new parts to make a M-60A1 and a M-60A3 with the dozer blade. They are a great leap forward from the old Esci/Italeri kit, particularly in the area of road wheels and tracks. There are a number of conversions for the kit to make other variants. Two of my builds will be straight from the box and the other two are conversions.

First, I present a M-60 'Slick' (or also known as a M-60A0) of the Army National Guard during the late 1980s. The conversion is by Modelltrans out of Silesia and includes early aluminum road wheels, turret (similar to an M-48), 105mm without a thermal sleeve, and Xenon search light. The model is painted in a Winter Verdant scheme that was common for M-60s in the 1970s and 80s with Soverign Colourcoat paints. The tank commander is a modern US Army figure from Black Lion. I painted his uniform as woodland pattern BDUs and at this scale, I doubt anybody will notice the difference.

For my second build, I present a M-60A1 RISE (Reliability Improved Selected Equipment ) with reactive armor. The model is out of the box and represents a M-60A1 used my the Marines to liberate Kuwait in 1991. The M-60A1 introduced an improved turret design over the M-60 Slick that was standard through the M-60A3

Darn, those are good looking tanks. Pattons always look the business. Very nice work!

Revell makes some really nice tanks in this scale, I just wish they did more British Cold War AFV’s.

My third build is a out-of-box M60A3 which was the first M60 released by Revell in 1/72. The M60A3 introduced smoke dischargers on the turret, has a thermal sleeve around the 105mm gun, and replaced one of the sighting blisters with a ruby laser sight. In addition, the late M60A3 TTS had a tank thermal sight as well. The tank is painted in NATO tree-color and represents the M60 at the end of it's active service with the US Army.

I agree but you must admit the all sand colours with reactive armour looks more menacing

And for the fourth and final M-60 based on the Revell of Germany, I present the M728 CEV (Combat Engineer Vehicle). The M728 was only one of two M60 variants that saw service in Vietnam (The other being the M60 Armored Vehicle Launched Bridge). The CEV has a 165mm demolition gun in place of the 105mm and a crane attached to the turret. The base for the kit was the M60A3 with M9 Dozer Blade. Modelltrans out of Silesia provided the CEV conversion which had a new turret and early style roadwheels. As the engineer vehicle had the dozer blade, you will need the increasingly hard to find kit that included the blade. The vehicle was painted in a summer verdant MERDC scheme which was common to units stationed in the States during the 1970s and 80s. The tank Commander is by Black Lion out of Czech Republic.

I agree. However, I also like to use different schemes for different versions. Besides, the only time the M60 gun tank saw combat under American colors was with the USMC in Operation Desert Storm. I wanted at least one combat veteran, so my choice was made.
