Revell 1/32 MIM-23 HAWK missile unit

Post by jssel »

Here is the Adams/Renwal/Revell HAWK missile unit in 1/32 scale. This kit has been part of the modeling scene for many years now.

HAWK stands for Homing all the way Killer.

I had built this kit many years ago and it was recently found smashed to bits. So I decided to take a weekend and restore it. As I recall there was not much you could do with the figures.

Hope you like it.

Looks excellent Jeff; how far back does it date to?
Best wishes

Very nicely restored, Jeff, that is a great looking pair of complimentary pieces and well worth the effort to save IMHO. Given that this missile system entered service with the U.S Army in around 1960 I'm guessing mid-sixties for the kit?

From all indications the first Revell issue was 1958. Based on Raytheon drawings. Most apparent in the radar unit having different faces than the operational units. I believe the Adams issue actually had the tracked carrier versus the trailered rig.

Can’t believe the countries that used it. My brother spent time in Korea, Germany and Saudi Arabia/Kuwait before retiring from the US Army and Raytheon. His last hitch was with Patriot and Avenger systems.
