Graham spotted the build article in Airfix Model World, and as it was his birthday, he got this kit:
Two Tiger tanks in 1/72 scale, with 10 parts each. No decals.
Quite nice detail on them too...
One of the gun barrels is a bit warped though
As you can imagine, with a nine year old and a kit with 10 parts, the build process was pretty short. He's a dab hand with the sprue cutters now.
That Humbrol glue from the gift sets is very smelly. His mother was not impressed
The only badly fitting section is the front hull, where the upper and lower sections meet.
I haven't managed to get him to paint it yet though.
A sleeping Yorkshire pig.
And before you make the comment, I come from Derbyshire

Re: GrahamR's Italeri Tiger Tanks
Sorry, I'm confused - did the pig come with the kits? Bit of a non-sequitor, that!
Nice job on the Tiger, Graham - aren't you going to show your dad how to paint a model though? Oh, and Happy Birthday!

To counter the possible downturn in sales, Italeri now offer, with each Armour Kit, the choice of a book; "The Big Boy's Book Of Bolt Heads And Rivets During Operation: Barbarossa", or a Yorkshire Pig and Pen.
Happy Belated Birthday Graham. Get your Dad to demonstrate dry-brushing.
A friend of mine has serious disabilities and had made a Chieftain tank he wasn't pleased with. I showed him how to dry-brush and he re-painted his tank and is now chuffed to bits!
Regards,
Bruce

The pig's there to make sure people pay attention. And it worked
We went to the Ottawa Agricultural Museum and Farm on Good Friday.
We have a family ticket which gets us in anytime. It also works for the Aviation Museum and the Science and Technology Museum. Perfect for the geeks (that's us).
I'm thinking of a diorama for the tanks...
