Polish SKOT 1 APC [Armo 1/72]
Some time ago I started playing with resin kit from Armo - SKOT 1.
Initially resin block looked like this:
after adding propellers' guards
I started scratchbuilding steering surfaces
But after that I lost my passion for it, and it landed in the box for a while.
Last week I put it back on the bench with strong resolution to complete it this time. First I removed previously installed steering panels, since I was not quite happy with them.
I always like to have figures with my models, the next step was to open a little bit this solid block. I removed the hatches and drilled-out the openings.
Next step was to re-work splash guard mount and its arms. Kit had just partial mounting rods and round arms, while in the real thing they are made from flat metal strips.
Then was a second approach to steering surfaces
Having removed hatches before and planning to keep them open, I added some scratch made details to inner sides of them, along with grab handles and steps.
Then I finished arms & rods for splash guard. Also added hook in front of the saw made from scratch.
But still something was missing.... Remember this?
Those square blobs were imitating covers for headlights. Time to get rid of them.
I dug out headlights compartments and added new covers:
Since I had open hatches it came time to produce some figures. These two fellows after extensive surgery showed up on the scene
Thanks to Ralph for sending me 3 heads from Corporal Ken
BTW - Does anyone have some spare Soviet tank crew heads? I have one left from Ralph's delivery, and just few from Preiser
Having construction done it came time for paint splash. Base coat with highlights (Vallejo acrylics)
After that was boring run with painting all the details and figures. And in meantime I scratchbuilt the base.
Results below:
And two proud crew members
I hope you like my condensed build presentation. Please let me know.

That build looks amazing! I really like it, you have done a great job on that kit. What did you use for the foliage on the APC? It looks very good and realistic, I would be very tempted to use it.

Thank you Ernie. Branches I made from twisted fine wire, covered them with liquid putty from Gunze. For leaves I used Mixed Green mat from Polak (Czech brand).Ernie wrote:That build looks amazing! Marcin, I missed the post somehow during my long inactivity on the forum. Amazing build with your SKOT. Always liked the appearance of them.

Re: Polish SKOT 1 APC [Armo 1/72]
Marcin, I certainly would like to build more armor, however my wife is in early labor as I'm writing this. I am not sure (well I am sure) how the coming of daughter will influence the modelling so I cannot commit myself too much. ...and this coming along when I have a 30+ stash of 72 armor and vehicles to build, including Leos, cromwells, Bedfords etc . No luck with figures though.

Marek I wish you and your family all the best with new daughter! Even if she will slow down your building pace.
