I see that these gnew Gnats are causing some problems. In your position now John I would be tempted to OOB it on the colour scheme, it might result in a faster finish than the red/white/grey scheme, which will call for some tricky masking by the looks. But then again, who am I to say? I couldn't finish a next-to-no-parts Fokker in the alloted month

Plenty of time, I started trying to get white laid down today, I'll have lots of time watching paint dry ...

I have, for those who can't seem to stay awake until the end of the instructions, included a photo of the location and color guide for the crew, and the crew themselves. I would note some differences -- the instructional crew appears to be holding cups in their right hands, while the kit crew are merely holding both knees. It is also somewhat curious that the crew hasn't got their oxygen masks on.

And for those who like to watch paint dry ....

I think the Lt Gray underwing is done, and the white is just a couple coats away, then I can start on red. The crew is mostly done.

Update: I think the gray and white are on fine.
I'll let them sit 24-48 hours before masking and then start on the red.

Masked Gnat ...

It took a bit to figure out the masking lines along the fuselage, but then they flowed nicely. I had a brief moment of panic looking back through the Warpaint that my Gnat should not have anti-glare and wing-walks, but the I found a couple photos of my target machine and figured the Warpaint profile was correct.

The first coat of Signal Red is on and drying, it looks sharp already !!!

It's really going to come to life when the red goes on.

Really looking forward to seeing how this comes out as that's probably my favourite Gnat scheme. Are the tanks glued in place as it would have made life easier to leave them off till after painting?

That is an attractive scheme, all right.
There are two photos posted...is it me, or are they identical?

You are probably right, but I got fixated on needing the tanks to define the stripe on the upper wing and glued them on. Fortunately the tanks join the wing squarely underneath and masking around them was easy. Saved from myself again ....

There's plenty of masking with this tricky looking scheme and I'm looking forward to your finished result as I'm sure I would have gone OOB and then still probably failed to finish on time - if you've got time to spare, then please help to save me from me

 I have a problem with the colour scheme, it's so good I now want one, but I'm about Gnatted out and with luck my LHS will have sold out :-D

I'm not. I run down every so often and check to see if the paint is till tacky.

If it would dry then I could put on another coat and cover over the slight fingerprints I have been leaving :frown:
