Right well i have started.. and traditionally here is a sprue shot...

Image

and again keeping to tradition i havent stuck to the instructions, i have painted the rear undercarriage wells and mounted them on the inside of the fuselage, I have started the cockpit tub and i have sanded and scraped away those pesky intakes, its not perfect but its good enough for this scale.

I built the old one of these as a red arrow once, it wasnt brilliant but it marked the beginning of my re-entry into the hobby, so this is a step back to the beginning so to speak, with improved skills and a better sense of direction....

Go for it Pugz, soccer is enough to keep me away from the telly for a while as well - I lose the vote in chez W on that one!

" woke up this morning wanting some breakfast.." but instead built the cockpit of my gnat....oooo ooooo this kit i like....

still at it actually, i have elected to go for an original yellowjack as opposed to one masquerading as a yellowjack. From all the pictures i have seen, they never flew with tanks and was clean so thats the look im going for, but the big question of the day ( and for once not..will i finish?) but what yellow do u think the yellowjack flew in looks too bright for the normal trainer yellow...

cool, i have had to mix some up, its slightly lighter than hannants xtracrylix rescue yellow, but when its dry it looks just the ticket.
well the ladies tennjis was on and as much as i like watching maria sharapovas bits wobble and listen to her moan, i have joined the fuselage together, added the panel between the wheels wells( which wasn't a great fit if im honest) and added the first coat of my mixed paint., which only reminded me how difficult yellow is to apply....

but now we have pictures......

the underside u can see that panel which im probably going to have to fill, and the rear of the main wing section i cant seem to get rid of the seams here either but once the paint has dried i can either fill and sand or sand and fill...lol

still its starting to look like a yellow gnat so im happy with it so far

From my what I can see in the pic, it might be worth trying to plate the offending gap up with a thin piece of plastic card cut to shape, there might still be filler required but it could save you time on the sand/filler cycle in the long run.

its a good job that there is a Gnat flying in yellowjacks livery, theres next to no close up shots of the them when they were flying in the 60s,
from photos in the public domain ive been able to really add stuff.....nearly finished.....

A brown stain under the fuselage and wingtip lights?

Congrats on a cool and good completion, anyways.
