Tim's T'rantula **Finished**

Post by TimJ »

Okay, so it isn't an insect but as spiders are allowed here's what I'll be building for this GB.

Image

Moulded in a wonderfully vivid green plastic.

Image

Image

I don't think I'll be using the parachute as I don't fancy rigging it up and there isn't a driver, not unless this is him.

Image

Here are the rest of the parts and decals.

Image

This will be the first time I've built anything like this for about 30 years so I'm looking forward to making a start later today.

I managed to get a bit of work done today. The engine components have been assembled and given a coat of red paint. It does clash with the green plastic though, good job it'll be covered by the chrome parts. :)

Image

The upper and lower body halves have been fitted together too. The wheels have been placed in position to give an idea of what it will look like with them fitted.

Image

The interior rests on a number of pins on the inside of the bodyshell. Unfortunately this means that the are some holes on the outside which I will be filling. :frown:

Image

I may also make some blanking pieces for the front of the wheel arches but as the wheels near enough fill them anyway I might get away without.

The holes on the underside have been plugged with pieces of sprue. I'll give them a trim and a smear of filler before I sand them down.

Meanwhile the engine has had another coat of paint and some shiny bits added.

I think it would look better wired so I'll have to get something sorted for that.

In the meantime I have made some progress. After a couple of sessions of filling and sanding and a wait for suitable weather it was out into the garden with a Halfords rattlecan for some primer. This is the state of play at the moment.

Image

The sprue plugs I used in the holes on the underside have done the trick as it is now nice and smooth, just as planned.

Image

The only potential problem I can see is the roof as it looks a bit awkward but apart from that it should be pretty plain sailing from now on.
