Greg's Jet Bug.

Post by Gregers »

Whilst having a look for my Airfix Tiger Moths I came across the Hasegawa A37 Dragonfly. So. guess what I will get on the bench for building. 8-) The Mothery will wait and I'll be doing this one for the G/B and it will also be handy for the Cold War s.i.g table at Telford.
Sprue and box pics to follow.

All the best.

Welcome aboard Greg, no need for the moth balls then :ha:

The Dragon fly is definitely one of those 'cute' looking planes.

From what I remember it isn't a bad kit. One of Hasegawa's fairly early kits I think but I could be wrong. I'll be doing the A37B version OOB.

All the best.

Well, after finishing the Airacobra the bench is cleared for the A37. I have taken some pics if the sprues and progress so far. I opened this kit with some trepidation as I bought it second hand and cellotaped up at a show some time back and never opened it until just now. Fortunately (seeing as quite a few parts are off the sprues) a parts count showed nothing missing. The cockpit interior is basic with a cockpit floor, two seat backs and two crew figures. The instructions recommend 8grams of weight in the nose so I will put as much as I can fit in there just in case using the very fine fishing weights I used for the P39 G/B. Well. That's all from me tonight. Pics should be added tomorrow.

All the best.

Hi folks.
I'm up at stupid o'clock with an awake little Greg so I have logged on to upload the pics.

Sprue, well parts shot.

Cockpit done and weights going in.

Fuselage together and lower wing half on.

Upper wing parts on and wing tanks on in the next pic.

That's where I am at the moment. sorry about the lousy pics. I really must sort out that macro on the camera. There have been no issues with this kit other than a self inflicted one concerning glue and a fingerprint on the wing but that was easily solved with a fine sanding stick and micromesh.

All the best.

Yes it'll be in an S.E.A scheme OOB decals for what the instructions refer to as the 434th Special Tactical Regiment. I can not find any references to this unit but I am assuming that it refers to the 434th Special Operations Wing at Grissom air force base.

All the best.

I recall building one of those back in the early 70's and thinking what a nice kit it was. It will be interesting to see if it passes the test of time.

That was good of little Greg to wake you up, so as to update your thread, please thank him for us. :-D

Little Greg is running round the living room full of energy. I on the other hand feel like death warmed up after only 3/4 of an hours sleep last night :???: . More progress to follow later hopefully. The model I have probably dates from early in the molds life so there is no flash and the parts are crisply molded.

All the best.

Sorry guys. This one will have to be a DNF for me. I'm away for a few days. I'll finish the Dragonfly when I get back.
