Greg's Soviet Snake. **FINISHED**
Re: Greg's Soviet Snake.
If I had built any faster I wouldn't have seen what it was like to build if I had blinked. The last pic was taken about 25 minutes after I had started it. sum total of parts in the last picture is 13, and four of those are just for the drop tank. One very quick build indeed so far.
All the best.

Great to see some pics Greg and this has gone together pretty quickly. Those fishing weights are tiny!

Go Greg Go. Nice work so far.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale
Re: Greg's Soviet Snake.
Well. More progress tonight but I have had to stop play due to flat Camera batteries. They are on charge and the Soviet Snake will be finished tomorrow. It's just the decals and clear coat that needs to go on now. Did the Cobra sit on it's undercarriage?. You'll have to wait until tomorrows instalment, complete with pictures to find out.

Right ho. I'm back after a busy day and in a short while I'll be bringing this one home just under the wire. I have a few household chores to sort first though so watch this space.

Re: Greg's Soviet Snake.
Well. Cobrachov is done. Here are the pics but first a few words about the build. This one is a very painless build with the only real bugbear being the nose weight issue but as was seen this was easily dealt with. the other two issues were the shallow canopy but I chose to ignore that but an after-market replacement would deal with that and the last was something that is an issue with every Hobbyboss kit I have built. That is if you try and paint xtracrylic paint over the bare plastic (even after degreasing) it tends not to stick and separates leaving patches of bare plastic. Priming is the way with this issue.
The green was slightly lightened Russian tank green painted on then streaked with the same colour slightly lightened some more. The control surfaces are dry brushed with faded olive drab and olive drab to simulate bleaching of the colour due to sunlight and weathering. Gun sooting was anthracite grey. Exhausts are a mix of browns dry brushed on with a last faint dry brush of black.
I know the canopy frames need a clean up but masking them was a pain and paint bled under the masking.
Here's the remaining pics.
One grey haired geezer doing a bit of painting.
Painting underway, The first coats on.
It's green. (guestimate of Russian airforce green)
YES. it's standing on all three wheels YAY
Weathering underway.
Underside too. (sorry about lack of pic quality)
I see decaling in the immediate future. spooky my powers of fortune telling
Told you so.
Russian to finish before the build ends.
Almost done. Just the props to go
Run out of funnies. Please enjoy the pics.
Last two pics in the completed builds section. This one has been fun, now where did I put that Cessna A37.
All the best.

Re: Greg's Soviet Snake. **FINISHED**
Thanks for the kind words guys and offer of the canopy parts Bruce. That will be much appreciated. When I paint canopies with Xtracrylic I don't panic about the frames as a light scrape with the point of a cocktail stick will clean up the edges.
Cheers and all the best.
