EE's P-63 KingCobra 'experience'

Post by English Electric »

And my other build... ahem...

It's a Plastimo (heard of them? No, me neither) P-63 Kingcobra in 1/72.

I think it could be a copy of the MPM kit, is horribly moulded and will sorely test any modelling skills I may possess! Bring it on...

Again, pictures tonight, but I will say does anyone do aftermarket P-63 exhausts, I know for a fact the moulded in efforts on the kit are totally unusable!!

It's tempting, but I'm going to press on regardless and see what transpires with this... the fit of the halves is pretty good actually, and it's possible that with some cleaning and work the parts will end up in a usable state! I'm pretty sure this is a copy or re-pop of the MPM kit.

My big concern is the canopy - I'll have to go remember how to clean one up from a terrible state - lets see how good I get the 'pit first though eh??

Ah well, nothing like a challenge!!

You're going to have to help me out on 'Cobra differences Bruce... what's it between C & A models on the P-63 and same goes for the P-39 - D & N... ?

James's words came to be very prophetic... ended up not doing the resin 'pit on the P-39 to wrestle with the pit on this horror. Will have to make my own IP out of plasticard. Each part has to be razor sawed off, the plastic is very brittle and easily snappable, and to cap it off nicely everything is covered in large splodges of mould release and plastic lumps that need sanding flat. On the plus said you won"t see much through the hideous canopy so i'm not going to superdetail it. Pics tonight...
