Not gotten much done of late. Work & life getting in the way.

The canopy is on and proving a little tricky to mask (it's the old eyes you see!). Lots of curves on a cobra canopy frame. :???:

I have also assembled & painted the U\C & prop. Pics as soon as I have something to show.

Nice one OT and good to see her standing as nature intended and not sitting on her behind. The curved radio (I had to stop myself from typing "parcel" then) shelf issue with some of these kits is a bit of a bind is it not. Mind you, will it be all that noticeable once the canopy is on and the frames painted?

It is a bind Shawn but so far it's the only hassel I have had with this kit. 8-)

Here is an image of the radio on the shelf:
Image

It is very visible. I have also seen images of earlier models in VVS service with the radio removed. Apparently Soviet doctrine dictated that only the squadron leader needed to broadcast and the radios were re-used in Migs & Yaks.

Yes, that's always something to watch with self-made add on parts. I've experienced this a couple of times, made bits for the cockpit, felt very pleased with myself and then found that the cockpit canopy will not fit over my masterpiece (I exaggerate there) of scratch building  Do plenty of dry-runs with the glazing to save much cursing later on!

Finally got some time to work on this today.

Canopy masked & frame painted US interior green - Humbrol 226.

Image

I also had time to remove a splinter from a colleague's finger whilst I had the tweezers & craft knife handy.

Hopefully a coat of primer tonight and see what needs attention.

Did you bother with a radio in the end OT?

Craft knife and tweezers to get at the splinter? that must have hurt a bit!

I always leave any aerials or other sticky out bit until the end. Otherwise I am always knocking them off.

I had to fix a couple of gaps with some filler and sand again but I managed to get the underside painted yesterday.

Image

I aim to get the U\C on next and the underside masked off before I start the OD green on top.

Thanks for all the encouragment guys.

OD is going on now:

Image

Since this was taken I have brush painted another two coats of OD so assuming the removal of masking tonight goes ok I will touch up & get a coat of klear on. Then decals tomorrow.

That jar of Tamiya XF-62 must be 20 years old but it went on fine!

I abandoned my plans to spray paint as I have not had time to practive due to SWAMBO being attacked by Bees. Ouch!

I should be completed by the deadline. :smilie_flagge3:

Nice to see this coming along OT. Those old bottles of Tamiya acrylic were better value for money than the latest teaspoon full that they give us for £££ per bottle  Hope the missus is not badly stung!

Thanks guys, The missus is just feeling a bit stupid - a lesson learned. :ha: :ha:

I unvailed the Kobra last night:

Image

Not too bad. Just a little bit of touching up needed.

I have applied a coat of klear this morning before work and will give it another tonight.

Then the decals can go on. 8-) Prop & U\C are ready too.

I had better update my progress stat.
