An italian Airacobra
Re: An italian Airacobra
Really great work here, Stefano.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Re: An italian Airacobra
Thanks a lot.
After another coat of wax, an oil wash and other things... it's almost finish. Needs just the final coat of matt, and a little more...

Re: An italian Airacobra
Nothing strange... a rampant horse are often present in the ancient italian flags from the middle ages. We can find in the banners of great noble families, renaissance guilds, free towns...Brews wrote:I see Ferrari's horse on the tail, Stefano.
A rampant horse was the mark, on his Spad, of the great italian ace Francesco Baracca during the Great War. He died in combat in 1918: had a score of 34 kills at least. In 1923, a young Enzo Ferrari asked and obtained from the mother of the ace the permission to use that rampant horse for his race team... I believe you know the rest of the history.
The mark you see on my P-39 was, and is, representative of the 4th Stormo:
The same group that flies on the EFA now in Grosseto, not so long from my town...
I took this few days ago... look at the tail...
By the way... this is the flag of my town, Arezzo !
