I'm sure I'll have plenty of cleanup to do on mine also.

Not a lot of progress last night but I'm plugging away

I used black primer on the top of the P-39 to darken the canopy frames. I could have broke out the airbrush but I was to lazy. Once its all done no one will notice that the internal framework isn't interior green. Will they???

Image

After the black dried I gave it an over all priming with white primer

I'm hoping that tonight I can at least do some pre-shading.

Moving forward it was time to paint the white. I decided that the standard white would be to bright for a combat aircraft of the period so I decided to go with Model Masters Wimbledon White

After the white was dry it got masked off and the Neutral Gray was applied to the bottom

Thanks for looking

Coming along nicely Dirk. I must say the P-39 looks really cool in white.

Didn't the Soviets paint some of theirs white?

Wimbleton White ? Interesting name/blend -- is that from a range of MM colors, like figures or autos ?

Wimbleton White is the color of the early Ford Mustangs. Model Maters made this one. I like the way it came out. Not to over powering.

I'll tell you what OT, The result after the umasking has me psyched. The decals will really make it come to life but I need to gloss it first.

Wimbledon White is an odd name, I wonder if it replicates the shade of white they use for the tennis court markings which are maybe slightly off-white? The models that Chevrolet sell over here are small boxy affairs, not the proper big US cars but then again the latter would be far too expensive to run with the amount a gallon of petrol costs here!
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.
