It looks stunning. Decals makes all the difference, as roughly painted on they look perfect! Real cartoonish.
Hooray to you for doing something different. This was very interesting.
And I'm still fascinated by how lovely that red color looks.

But Dirk .......

Decals are out of register!!

Thank you so much everyone. I have to admit I really enjoyed doing this. I can only imagine what it must be like doing this same thing with two or three other people in the same house together (Shameful jab at those Blitz House Blokes who didn't pony up this time round). :ha: :ha: :ha:

Outdoor early morning before I go to work photos will be posted in the gallery shortly

Definitely a theme worth pursuing, Dirk.
Besides the Mossie, what else might there be?

There's a mass of comic inspired models that could be built; in fact from memory, SAM or SAMI did a couple of articles complete with colour profiles on this in the late 90s...here's another couple...

I haven't got gotten round to grabbing some screenshots yet but there's also the Beaufighter from The Mummy:Curse of the Emperors Tomb, complete with entry door just after of the starboard wing for shooting at and hand-launching bombs at supernatural bad guys...
Please critique my posts honestly i.e. say what you think so I can learn and improve...

Could this also be extended to the 'Biggles' books and Commando comics?

'It' could...and there are the Air Ace Picture Library, etc..
However, I was curious only about a range of red Johnny Red subjects, as these would be quite distinctive on their own.
As for Biggles, there's a SIG somewhere! ;-)

I'm still reading through the Johnny Red comic and am still in 1977 (goes through 87 I believe). There are tons of planes throughout the comic like Mig3's and La 5's but nothing that stands out as the Hurricane and Mosquito. There was a B-17 that made a frequent appearance called Bombshell.

To the best of my knowledge only the hurri and mossi had the red with skulls. A johnny red group build would be cool but do you make it any aircraft that appeared in battle comics or distinct to johnny red? If its just aircraft that appeared in jr you can build just about anything because every type of aircraft appeared in the comic. if you make it distinct to the comic you can only do stuff like johnny's hurricane the mosey the b 17 bomber shell or any aircraft with the red falcon logo on the side which is a pretty cool logo. Of course there is also jr's hurricane in standard sea hurricane dress but with the falcon logo.
