1/72nd Academy Amphibious Jeep - Completed
Ok, only 11pm but going to get started.
Here is the kit.
I am only planning on doing the jeep as I want to convert the halftrack into an Israeli version from '67. I might break down and do the Harley but not in the plans right now.
Tonight the parts got a spray of Model Masters Olive Drab from a rattle can which seems is on its last legs as I got about as much on my fingers as on the kit. Did have one area with too much paint (has to be on the top of the front panel, doesn't it) so used a Q-tip to get that off. Will probably just tackle the area with the hairy stick later rather than trying to respray the whole thing again.
Will give the paint time to dry overnight and hit it in the morning.
Stay tuned.

Looking forward to this one as this kit is on my wants list for this very vehicle, the scale isn't quite right as I would prefer 1/76 but it is close enough for such a small machine.

Re: 1/72nd Academy Amphibious Jeep
Getting a late start this afternoon but still think I can get it done.
First up, a little brunch.
And first construction pic. Got the undercarriage on, tires are painted as are the seats. Found out during test fitting there are a couple decent sized sink marks on top of the rear wheel wells that show in the interior. Was trying to avoid putty but filled them with a little Mr Surfacer 1000. Let that dry and sand it and some touch up paint and then add the interior.
Instructions tell you to add all the bits to the foredeck before adding it but think I will wait until it is in place before tacking those bits on.
More later.

Re: 1/72nd Academy Amphibious Jeep
Brunch was scrambled eggs, hash browns and sausage with some toast.
Sorry all, got distracted by the last 20 minutes of Thunderbird Six which I wish I had known it was on as haven't seen that one.
Anyway, all the parts are now on the model. Got to do some touch up paint and then the decals and maybe some weathering but I might skip that part.
One thing lacking in the kit is a windshield. Could cut some acetate up and try and put it in but will probably try Krystal Klear first and see if it can handle the space.

Looking good. You should be finished in time too by the look of it.

Re: 1/72nd Academy Amphibious Jeep
Ok, 10pm here and I am calling this one completed.
Used the Testors clear cement and window maker about an hour ago and they are still drying but otherwise this is done (actually impressed this stuff could fill those sized spaces.
Will take some beauty shots for the completed thread tomorrow after work.

Very nice model Philip, am sorry I missed your build live. Have wanted this model for a while now and after seeing your kit I want to build one even more. I am surprised that it does not have a windscreen as Academy include a clear windscreen with their normal jeep kit and this screen would possibly have been a standard Jeep unit on the full-size.

Good stuff Philp.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale
