OT Rides Again! ***Finished***

Post by Old_Tonto »

I am off work for a couple of days next week so I recon I can squeeze another Luft'46 subject in.

This time it is a PM kit so has a very small parts count although I will need to box a few bits in. The Me P-1111.

Image

Th Doctor Who clock will keep me on track with this one. It will be in flight again & I think a NMF is called for with a big fecking Swaztika or two. 8-)

The aim is to give it a 50's look (and to complete it this time. :-D )

I look forward to seeing a NMF ME P-111, when we did the Luf46 GB I did a Horten in silver with a red wing and big Swaztika and it does makes them look totally different.

PM kits do make good Blitz kits due to the low parts count.

Will watch this with a great deal of interest as I do like PM kits, some people berate these kits, they may be simple and some are better than others but the subjects they choose are great and they build a lot better than certain Airfix rehashes.

Looking forward to this. One tip I was given (after I built mine) was to use a drinking straw for the intake trunking. PM kits are simple and a bit basic but they are FAR easier than scratchbuilding and vac forms.

All the best.

Oooh, exciting choice OT! Am gonna have to watch this thread now.

I've build one PM Model. 1/72 Spitfire MkVc. I can't remember why I didn't use the kit decals, but I made it Royal Australian Air Force using Ventura decals. It was the 13th model I built (knowing this cause I keep a list of it all) so I can't remember if I liked the kit. But you're right about few parts.
Hmm now I'm tempted to try another PM model.

Good luck to you!

To be fair the PM Spitfires are not the best in the range. The ME P-1111 is a pretty good one though.

All the best.

Only if Photobucket cooperates. Still having issues.

Anyway, best get started. Here is the kit in all it's glory:

A pleasingly low parts count. Which is good as I also have to prime & paint the front door today and do the house work. :???:

I did have a shot with the Doctor Who clock in it but the Photobucket pixies seem to have eaten it.

more to follow.

I think I will have to get this one for the next blitz, I already plan to build another Huckebein to accompany the one I have just built (you will all see why in the back story I post today) and I also have designs on the PM spitfire to make a most unusual and simple (and reasonably accurate) Spitfire model, the true subject of which (I am pretty sure, I hope) non of you will guess.

Not much to show so far. All the parts are attatched to the sprue by very thick plastic and the upper & lower halves had very thick lumps that I had to remove from the wing leading edge.

I have assembled & painted the cockpit & seat and I have just made some side walls that will also block off the air intakes.

Image

I have also adapted the engine mount to take a stand.

Whilst that dries I am off to do a few domestic chores & feed the kids.

Good progress, although, to be honest, you'd have to really study the completed model to see the gaps you have so painstakingly managed. I did work on my cockpit and you can see diddly-squat through the canopy.
