TimJ's Gustav **Finished**
Having seen how quickly Greg and Splash built their Hobby Boss kits I decided to drag this one out of the stash.
I won't finish as quickly as them but having had a look I do have acrylic paints for the RLM04 and RLM76 so that should speed it up a bit.

Re: TimJ's Gustav *starting 4pm 25th*
I probably will go for the Hungarian option as it'll make a change and I won't have to hunt down any swastikas.

Good choice of kit, I think you will enjoy the HobbyBoss kit, the bits just fly together with little need for filler.

Re: TimJ's Gustav *started*
I've started but there's no start photo I'm afraid as I accidentally deleted it. After half an hour the airframe is together.
The exhausts fit into a slot in the lower fuselage so I painted them and the surrounding area of the nose.

30 mins to get an airframe together. Deep joy!

Will you need the full 24 hours?

I don't think I will for this one.splash wrote:Will you need the full 24 hours?
After 90 minutes the tailplanes are on, the cockpit interior has had a coat of paint, the prop has been assembled and the cannon gondolas have been added.
Time for something to eat now, nothing interesting, just a cheese sandwich and a cherry bakewell.

Great progress. These HB kits are excellent blitz fodder. I have a few in the stash to go at but I'm not sure I'll get time to do another blitz.
All the best.

I think some people under rate these HobbyBoss starter kits, they are like the modern version of Matchbox, cheap, simple to build and look good when built.
I love them

Re: TimJ's Gustav *started*
It's the fact that they look so good when completed...you can almost get away with pretending that you've done some modelling!
I have 5 Hobby Boss kits under my belt and was chuffed with all of them;
Eurocopter Tiger, Grumman Wildcat, Kamov Helix, MiG-15UTI and Fairchild N/AW A-10A Warthog
Oooopsy!
Great progress, Tim.

Bruce

Re: TimJ's Gustav *started*
I've built one of their Hurricanes and it looks good, I'm hoping this one looks as good.
Everything is together now apart from the undercarriage. It did need a smear of filler but not much and the prop has been given a lick of paint.
I'm expecting to have it painted before I go to bed tonight so I should be finished in plenty of time.
