Things are coming along as the first coat of yellow has gone on and the undercarriage bays and legs have been painted.

Image

I've also taken the opportunity to give the upper wingd a coat of RLM75.

So after four and a half hours I'm already at the 'watching paint dry' stage, which does at least give me the chance to do some work on some of my unfinished builds.

Working on other kits? That's bad planning. Shouldn't you be working on the undercarriage or something?

Coming along well.

if you've been using that tin of Xtracolour, that could be a very long stage indeed.
Would ya like to learn to fly? Would ya? Would you like to see me try?

Yes it could, I may have to look for a quicker drying alternative.

Just making best use of the yellow paint while it was opened.

The wings have now had another couple of coats of yellow and I've got a coat of RLM76 on the underside too.

Image

The tail surfaces have been given a coat of white ready for the Hungarian stripes as there aren't any supplied for the underside of the tailplanes and those for the upper surfaces are, apparently, in the wrong order. :???:

Image

It'll mean an extra bit of painting but hopefully it won't take long.

While waiting for the paint to dry I've fitted the undercarriage and put the prop on temporarily.

Image

I've made a headrest from part of the plastic tray that the parts came in.

Image

I've got a lot more painting to do than I was hoping for at this stage of the build. It could be a late night.

C-mon you can do it. Another coat before you hit the sheets and it'll be ready to go when you wake up.

At midnight the Xtracolour RLM75 was still slightly tacky so I gave it a coat of Klear to seal it in and when that had dried I gave the upper surfaces a coat of Hu27. After painting the canopy frame and cannons it was time for bed to let the paint dry.

Image

This morning while my porridge was in the microwave I gave it a coat of RLM76. It shouldn't need another one so I'll be able to get on with the camo and tail stripes.

Image

Image

Still well over six hours to go so I should finish in plenty of time.

Thanks Ian. With six hours to go the camouflage is complete and a light mottle applied. Mike's looking confident.

The tail stripes are next then Klear and decals.
