That cockpit looks a hell of a lot better than the old Airfix Corsair!

Not a lot of progress but I did manage to get some of the components together.

Here you can see the wings were drilled out and the hard points were attached. The mounting points for the main landing gear and the nose gear was also assembled. lastly the tail cone was assembled

Next I cut out the attach point for the refueling arm

As always, some progress is better than none at all Dirk. This looks to be a nice kit BTW. The last model of an A-7 I built was the venerable Airfix offering which is, I feel, now long past its sell by date.

Nice work Dirk, the detail is good.

Are you leaving all the panels open or closed?

The intake scoop and cockpit put in place

Installing the main landing gear bay

Painted the exhaust burnt metal

Installing the fuselage half's was a bit tricky because you have to make user the cockpit, the intake scoop, the main landing gear and exhaust are all lined up properly. If not you will have issues. Unlike with most WWII prop aircraft all you have to worry with it lining up the cockpit.

I had an issue with the back end. I figure of any thing this was the easiest to fix or work around.

Nice progress Dirk!

Being a new kit I would have expected a better fitting of the rear fuselage, nonetheless the detail looks very good and it surely beats the old Airfix/Matchbox/Hasegawa offerings.

I think the fit issues is of my own doing. The rear cone must have been off by just a tad (exact measurement).

Good progress.
I like the detail in the wheel bay. Hope to see many tigers done before I leave.

Nice progress Dirk. As a matter of interest, are you bothered about the internal join lines in the front intake, which are usually a real pain to sand out, do you think to leave well alone, have a go at sanding or make a FOD guard?

The simple answer is I don't know yet. :ha:

Spent most of the night filling the fuselage joints and the wing joints. Its not the worst I've ever come across but its still a pain. For some reason I didn't expect it with this kit. Not sure why, but it was an assumption on my part. I can't find my camera. I think I left it at work. Will get pictures up as soon as I can.
