Sissel's F-16AM and F-16BM
Royal Norwegian Air Force Tiger Meet 2010
I really love the tail art! Fiesty, like me
Wish there were more stripes though. Only the two-seater has a few.
F-16 AM
F-16 BM
Can't wait to start on these! They do look like great kits.
I hope I can squeeze in some time Sunday morning before drama practice. Rest of weekend full, next week looks a bit quiet, so I hope to be able to do lots of modelling if nothing turns up.
I have only built one Tiger before. Italeri F-5. Lots of stripes. Big decals. They did go on well and was easy to move around. But nerveracking it was.
There are so many awesome looking Tiger Meet aircraft out there. There is a pretty RNoAF F-5 with tiger on the tail and stripes. Will get my hands on those decals some other time.
This will be a fun GB.

That F-5 looks lovely.
Good luck with the -16s.

That 16 "two-holer" look really sharp. If you got to go grays, that sure is sweet.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Re: Sissel's F-16AM and F-16BM
Thanks Ian!
Yep, Jeff, it does. Here's a better piccie.
A bigger pic of the single fighter's tail
I somehow thought there were two identical kits in the box, so my original plan was to get the decals to build this
When I do buy the decals I have two more Norwegian F-16s to build. The other I have is a standard gray "boring" one.

Re: Sissel's F-16AM and F-16BM
Two days into it and nobody has begun building?
Well I will! Will be on and off the bench today as drama practice was cancelled. A good thing, I'm way too tired to drive...
So... still having my mornin' coffee at noon and will begin in a couple of hours.
This will be oooood!

Best of luck with the build Sissel. These two should be cool. Looking forward to seeing the models.
All the best.

Re: Sissel's F-16AM and F-16BM
Thank you, Greg.
Here's from the very start with a few notes.
Lots of pieces. I always smile when I see the pilot has one arm off. I just do not see the point of separating it, if they have to, why not have both cut off while they're at it? Anyways, the three pilots all got their arms stitched up.
Vallejo shelf in order, thanks dad.
Searching for photos it seems the instruction isn't far off the interior colors. Only the back cushion on the seats seems to be more greyish than green.
Both cockpit have a few tiny pieces. I haven't gotten very far. Painted the cockpit floor, glued sticks on. There will be a few decals here and there.
Pilots are done painted except for face. I took several pics of pilots and cockpit, but they all got blurred.
So here we are, three hours and an emtpy chess mug later!
What on earth has she been doing for three hours? I don't see many changes!
Well, I was surprised at how fast the time went by. Already 6pm!
Threw a little paint here and there and studied the beginning of the instruction. I really need to keep my tongue in place on these two.
With three weeks before I head off for a well earned holiday there is plenty of time though.
What I don't like is there is a lot of flash (already removed quite a bit at this photo), and too many split parts! In the pic above, to the right are several parts of the fuselage that will be consisting of five parts alone (see instructions), not a problem in itself but it becomes one when they don't fit well together.
Already I can see how there will be huge gaps, inaccuracies and fit problems everywhere. But nothing that can't be fixed. Out with the BIG putty and anger management!
Gonna relax in the bubblebath for a bit.
Later folks, and thanks for checking in.

Re: Sissel's F-16AM and F-16BM
Evening!
Here's the pilots. Can you spot the outcast!?!? Looks like his face is floating, but it's just the paint not dry yet, honest...
The other two are sleeping.
There's several 'tiny' decals in the cockpit. No problem. The Hasegawa decals are a dream to work with. Lots of microset and they are very easy to move around.
Here are five decals. They need some careful trimming I see. Even though probably not that visible through the canopy, I know it's there.
But I couldn't have done it without this handy decal-mover
Last thing I did tonight was to make holes here. Used the same tool as above. With some RAW MUSCLEPOWER it was easy.
Slowly moving forward.

I think I have OCD. One of those paint bottles is the wrong way round.

It is...and, having enjoyed the company of Sissel's father and recognising his organisational abilities, I would suggest that any future disturbance of the arrangement of paint will be down to Sissel. I might also go as far to suggest that any such disturbance would be short-lived.Brews wrote:Isn't it just that the label is a little faded?
