As promised here are the rest of the preliminary photos.

I may try the Revell acrylic paints that came with the kit as I've heard good things about them.

If you paint the model according to the guide you'd have a very colourful bird a sit would be Carmin Red with a Leaf Green panel on the underside. Presumably it should be Gunship Grey with a NMF panel.

I can always count on somebody in an UAMF group build to pull out the tiny stuff! Good on you Tim!

Any progress?

Being so tiny you should be done in no time. Are you done yet?

Is that one of their new moulds? I came close to picking one up in Modelzone today but held back for fear of it being an older, less well-fitting model kit.

I've made a start by painting the intakes and undercarriage white (2 coats) and adding the fins.

Some dry fitting has shown that I shouldn't need any filler, at least on the main assembly.

The one issue with this kit is the arrangement of the exhausts, which are moulded in full afterburn. I'm sure there's be a PE fret in the offing, somewhere, but they really need a series of fine rods to connect the 'feathers' to the engine.
Alternatively, you could cut them back.

Regards,
Bruce

Sorry about the lack of updates but I've had to have what passed for my central heating replaced so modelling time has been a bit short lately. I have made some progress over the last couple of days though.

The cockpit interior was assembled and, unlike the F-14, this time I didn't lose any of the control columns.

Image

I'm not sure if it will need any nose weight but I put some in just in case.

Image

After closing up the nose section I fitted it to the rest of the fuselage and added the intakes.

Image

Just after taking the photo I knocked off one of the tailfins. Doh!! At least it didn't fall victim to the carpet monster.
