Paul's Mirage build
Re: Paul's Mirage build
Lovely colors. It all looks really sharp.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale
Re: Paul's Mirage build
Thanks for the kind words. REALLY Frustrated with this build.
As for the overspray,i did that on purpose as i want to try somwthing new and blend it in with a filter overall.
The colors used were MM light ghost grey and RAF PRU Blue.
im hoping to have this done by the end of the weekend. Wish me luck!!

Re: Paul's Mirage build
I've blended overspray with oil washes on AFVs but never tried it on aircraft, so I too will be interested to see your approach on this. Looking good so far BTW.

Re: Paul's Mirage build
well here is the w.i.p. on the filters. Forst did a light blue filter overall, then the dot filters. After it dries completely i will do another overall filter to blend things better. The pic really dont capture the difference all that well, but everyone seemed interested. Enjoy!
pre filter pic
dots applied
mid way point.
after. still kinda wet.

If there are no stupid questions, then what kind of questions do stupid people ask? Do they get smart just in time to ask questions?

Re: Paul's Mirage build
Keep at it Paul, interesting to see those dot filters in use on an aircraft - up to now I think I've only seen AFV modellers use them.

Re: Paul's Mirage build
Coming along nicely. I've done the dot trick myself to a couple models. It's a lot of work but the results can be fantastic

Re: Paul's Mirage build
just a thought Paul, would the washes and filter not normally be done after the decals went on ? not sure as i never have used either myself, just curious ?
Completed: not counting. Bought: trying not to let Mrs Viking count
Re: Paul's Mirage build
I have tried that before with horrendous results. Lol. Didn't come out too bad this time. I will be posting pics of the completed build when I get home tonight.

Re: Paul's Mirage build
It's looking good Paul.
I think Viking has a point I would have done it after the decal stage, having said that the Tiger markings would have been nice and fresh so your way works.
