Splash's RF-4E tiger

Post by splash »

Initially I was not going to play with this GB, but as I once served on 814 squadron (The Flying Tigers) who once painted one of their Seaking's in the Tiger Colours I feel I should come and play.

Today I had to return a kit with a missing part to my LMS and by chance they had this on the shelf, so I'm now going to try and make time to join in.

On first inspection the Decals look challenging and I'm tempted to just spray it yellow and free hand the black only time will tell.

Hmm.. Yeah, a few of those does look tricky.
With your skills I'm sure you'll manage a great freehand result. But give 'em a go first.

I've got this one in the stash and I'll be watching this with interest.

All the best.

Does Ian live far away from you Splash? You could always tune in and switch while he's asleep!

As Ian has started his kit at the pointy end I thought I might start at the hot blunt end.

The kit does have some small bits of flash but so far the fit has been very good, the plastic used is dark green and quite hard with fine crisp detail and is easy to work with.

As you can see from Ian's build the cockpit is nice and should respond well to dry brushing and washes,

Reading Sissel's thread I understand that some like their paint in a set order, so I thought you would all like to see how I store my paint

Aaaaaaaaaaargh!
Splash - delete that photo or I will have to come round and sort that box out. You CAN'T store them like that.

Best of luck with those decals Splash. I'll bet it's probably easier to paint the stripes as per your suggestion. Interesting paint storage system, I like the random thinking, easier to deal with like that, just chuck 'em in when you're done. Good idea, I might use that one

Technically my paint storage system is better than stacking them all upright, because there is a lower chance of the paint settling in one place. :ha: :ha: :ha:

It's entropy.

Splash adheres closely to the laws of physics.

This is why his models look so natural :)
