This is not dormant. I have the red and black on the hull, next is the white - mask and paint, you've seen that.

I'm also working on cleaning up the cabin top/bottom join - fill and sand, you've seen that also.

I hope to show all that done in a couple days.

Nice looking build John.

I didn't even know this kit existed.

OK, I said it wasn't dormant, so here's progress.

The hull is painted, except the propeller, and needs some touch-up before I hit it with a varnish. I have been rattle-canning. The masking was not fun as the hull shape, especially in the stern, is quite difficult.

More of a problem has been the cabin -- you may remember the top/bottom split ran right through the portholes. Between that and some molding issues on the back wall, this has been quite a struggle. Then I had to fight with the bridge structure. It had big tabs, the deck had slots, and I had to trim down the tabs and widen the holes to get bridge section to fit properly against the front wall. There is still a gap along the bottom of the windows that I think I can fix with a strip of Evergreen.

The other issue is doing window and porthole glass, none of which is provided in the kit.

Anyway, still working along, probably start puttering on the main deck also. A test fir of the deck parts, bulkheads, etc, suggests there may be a few gap issues.

Beautiful work on this oldie. Now I have seen the kit I wouldn't mind one myself.

All the best.

This is coming along nicely John; are you using the kit handrails (I assume there are some based on the location holes at the deck edges) or PE?

Remember getting this kit years ago as a Birthday present, (bout my 8th) real memory trip!

Wasn't there a Batle class Destroyer in something like 1/200 scale as well?

Undecided. My intent was OOB but I got the Atlantic Models PE for the ladders/stairs -- the kit only has deck handrails, not for the ladders/stairs. My first decision point comes with the main deck -- do I want to use the 4 molded in stairs and PE rails or should I cut out the stairs and use PE stairs & rail. Another option since I bought a spare Frog-spawn kit is to kludge in the handrails from it.

Styrene rails aren't bad, PE rails are flat. I am not bothering with all the porthole surrounds, etc. But Atlantic was nice enough to send me a decal set so I should be good to go in that regard.

Break.
Today I studied pix and decided that I had the white/black wrong on the bow and remasked/sprayed to have the black cover the anchor holes (hawse?).

Very smart work, John. I'd use Krystal Klear for the windows and scuttles.

Yes; it is to 1/325 scale.

Very nice, Paul !! That's about the shade of green I want for my deck - Hu88 ?

My thought also, but I will need to test the Kleer -- some of the ports may be too big. Probably a project for this weekend.

Coming along nicely John!

Where do you buy your Color Coats? My supplier doesn't stock WEM anymore.

Actually I have a several year supply from years of buying direct. When WEM went under I cleaned out several shops in the states.

Now that Sovereign ( https://www.sovereignhobbies.co.uk/ ) has the license, they are again available in the US, sort of. Here are the two suppliers I know of:
