built for a GB elsewhere.............only my second ever floaty thing
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_air ... f_Zeppelin;
learnt a lot from this..........
a reinforced respect for guys who habitually do this stuff...............the scale was daunting to me.....i sometimes struggle with 1/72 cos of chubby finger syndrome
trying to paint a Me109 or Stuka with a 10mm wingspan aint easy!!!!!!!
and...............it was a lot of fun to do something completely different to what i normally.....thoroughly enjoyed doing this
bad points................the decals were rubbish! ...the ones that were supposed to go on the flight deck dissolved..................so did the 'flags'............when i get some ink for my printer i might have a go at making some for it to finish it off
excuse the pics on a slant.........only way i could get it all in the frame and not be too far away from it
buildup pics in my workbench thread
already thinking of the next shippy build

Very nicely done,
The aircraft paint schemes are impressive. A very clean impressive build. What is the plan for the "next floaty thing"?

Agreed. I've always been intimidated by ships, even though I actually have a couple stashed away from childhood that could be built anytime now...

Both need to crack on!Dirkpitt289 wrote:SWeet. I started a ship about 3 years ago and have yet to finish it
To be honest i was intimidated too, this was only the second ship ive ever done...........i just approached it in the same way that i do with any model........think it thro before you do!.............after all its just a load of plastic just like a plane or car or tank or whatever......cept its got a pointy end i thoroughly enjoyed doing this simply cos it was something different from what i normally do, i always get a kick out of solving little problems that arise whenever you build a model......this just had new little problems cos i wasnt familiar with how ships go together so that was fun

Re: Graf Zeppelin.....1/720.....Revell
The hybrid is a nice idea. I built one from the Airfix Bismarck years ago and then extended the deck all the way forward. It may be hiding in the garage nowadays. I think that they were looking at converting Gneisenau into a carrier at one point. A carrier was useless to them at this point though, unless they'd wanted to attack the USA. The only countries that really needed them then were America, Britain and Japan.
So many models, so little time.
